Big Hero 6 Adds Co-Director Chris Williams

Chris Williams, who wrote and directed Disney’s Bolt, has signed on to co-direct Big Hero 6 alongside Don Hall.

The project is the first 3D animated movie to be based on a Marvel property, and follows robotics expert Hiro Hamada, who teams up with a robot named Baymax, and a host of other characters such as Gogo, Honey Lemon, sushi chef Wasabi and fanboy Fred. The movie is based on Marvel’s six-issue mini-series, which was inspired by Japanese manga comics and centers on a group of state-sanctioned superheroes who are at the Japanese government’s disposal.

Don Hall wrote the script, based on Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle’s comic book. Roy Conli has also come on board as a producer.

Disney has set a November 7, 2014 release date for Big Hero 6, although no voice cast members have been announced yet.

Chris Williams’ previous writing credits include Disney’s Mulan, The Emperor’s New Groove and Brother Bear. He also provided the voice of Oaken in Frozen.

Big Hero 6 comes to theaters November 7th, 2014. The film is directed by Don Hall, Chris Williams.
