Hasselblad today shipped the H4D-40 Ferrari Limited Edition. The special run medium format camera previewed earlier costs roughly in line with others in its class, at $29,499. Its launch strategy mimics that of the Ferrari Enzo and will see just 499 cameras sold with an 80mm lens.
The new edition stands out through its rosso fuoco color and Ferrari badge as well as a special glass case to display the camera even when out of use.
The camera keeps the 40-megapixel sensor as well as the H4D series’ True Focus, which compares yaw when the camera moves and will automatically readjust the focus to keep the intended subject in clear view. Hasselblad still gives it dual storage systems, FireWire tethering and automatic image compensation for chromatic aberration and other unintended effects.
