Is ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Being Delayed for Reshoots?

Producer Michael Bay and Paramount released the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles teaser to mixed fan reaction last week. A lot of hardcore enthusiasts hated the new origin story for the turtles, which finds Shredder and April O’Neil’s father creating the mutant brothers in a lab via a green ooze-like substance. Now comes word that the movie is being delayed for reshoots.

This unconfirmed report claims the movie is being bumped from its prime August release date all the way into November or December, where it will become a holiday release. The reason for the delay is a series of reshoots said to make up more than one third of the film.

According to this rumor, Michael Bay will be overseeing these reshoots himself, and its not clear if director Jonathan Liebesman will even be on set.

The problems with the movie and the impending reshoots are said to be taking valuable time needed away from post-production on Transformers: Age of Extinction.

It’s unclear exactly what, if anything, needs to be reshot or added. It isn’t known if they are retooling the origin part of the story, or if the third act of the movie is a mess. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a project that has been plagued by production issues since it first went into production last year. Its also possible that this is an April Fools Day joke that has arrived a tad bit early.

There is no word on which actors might be returning for reshoots. Or if this is even happening. We’ll be sure to update you as soon as Paramount and Michael Bay issue an official statement.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to theaters August 8th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Danny Woodburn. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.
